A Different Decision.

2026 Day 145. #PersonalDays.

Have you ever looked at someone and wondered what is the driving force behind all their efforts? They seem to have an extraordinary amount of motivation behind everything that they do and often it seems to pay off. Their moves seem smart and calculated and the results public and successful. You may believe that they have all the potential to be successful given the pace that they are currently going.

Every such potential man (JJK reference), can see failure. There is no guaranteed path to success. At any point that such a man fails, people will work their opinions backward and define a path of failure. This can often only be visible in hindsight. Maybe it was difficult to catch earlier on or maybe it just seems like cause because people like to speculate and assign reason to unexpected failures.

People like to look back and wonder what decisions they could have made different.

If only… Had I known… If this had worked… If I had listened…

and so on.

People also try to understand how others are living a life of sin and bad decisions and still thriving. They wonder if karma is real, if their life is just good on the surface, etc.

I have a strong growing belief that there are no right or wrong decisions. Life can take a turn for better or worse however. You may take all the right steps in working towards your goal and it can fundamentally change in an instant. You will feel that you had it wrong all along, but your decisions were simply the product of your then knowledge.

There is no wrong or right, just different decisions.

Some people start off slow and finish strong, much like you are supposed to do in a marathon.

Some start off fast and quick, but run out of fuel quickly, which is what we call burned out.

Some start off so far ahead of you that they are practically at the finish line already.

Some start off so far behind the starting line that they will never get to see the finish line.

Some run stronger in the beginning, and continue that pace until the end.

Some are running downhill, while others are running uphill.

There are so many paths to success and so many starting points that you cannot really accurately know what is the right direction, the right time, and the right amount of effort to go forward.

You can gather all the knowledge in the world and still not reach the finish line how you intended, or maybe not at all. This is because there are a lot of factors that are out of your control and a lot more that have never been a consideration anywhere before. It is not that the single circumstance is so unique but the overall set of circumstances and constraints that you find yourself in seem to be actively conspiring against you. Every step you take is a mistake no matter how logically adept it felt. You can do everything right and find yourself in the exact place where you were running from.

At the same time you could make the wrong decision and achieve a better result in the longer run. Life has a way of working that is beyond you or me. Often people want to play it safe, but things can go wrong even when you are playing it safe.

Why not risk it? Go big, always.

We value life as if it is sacred and important. Look around you. There are so many living things that you never pay attention to. There is a certain harmony in everything that makes things work. Life is abundant. Life is not as sacred as you are taught it is.

What lies beyond this life is not something one can reliably answer. You might believe in reincarnation or you might believe in a heaven and hell, or you just want to believe that it feels like going to sleep and never waking up again.

Whatever you believe, one thing is certain. You will not carry memories of you previous incarnations (or you would do in this realm). Alternatively you cannot come back from heaven or hell (or you could see your ancestors again).

So do more than is required. Take risks. If you fail, the worst thing you will ever lose if yourself. If you win, your descendants can enjoy life and take risks with the safety net that you created.

See you tomorrow.
