How prioritising loved ones can affect your relationship with them.

2026 Day 202. #PersonalDays.

It is only natural for a human being to choose certain people over others based on how they feel about them. This choice sometimes ignores logic, and is based on perception and stems from internal feelings about the person.

At what point do we stop supporting our loved ones unconditionally and set them on the right path?

Is it better to continuously choose and support them even if they are in the wrong?

Should they be inconvenienced at all in their lives?

How do we let them learn on their own while being supportive?

Some people will selfishly choose themselves over everyone. This might extend to their partner, children, and family members. They might take this too far, where everyone else relies too much on a single person.

This dynamic can help build extremely strong one-way relationships which can help build character and strength of others in the group. Only the knowledge of unconditional support can help motivate people to take risks and be more adventurous. But instead of building a person up, strong supportive relationships should uplift everyone involved.

It is these risks that can define the character of a person. Taking a risk in more productive/positive directions (a business venture, an ambitious trek, a solo adventure) over negative directions (substance abuse, unnecessary fighting) helps build character.

If a person is given unconditional support and the right direction, it is the start of a recipe for success. There are no guarantees in the world but at least this sets up a great foundation for character development.

In your life you will come across a certain set of people who will prefer being polite. In this trial they will be more than likely to inconvenience their loved ones over others. These relationships appear to offer little support and guidance, no matter how genuine or noble the ideas were.

While this sounds absurd, the main idea here is that they believe that being closer to their loved ones it makes it easier for them to explain why the compromise had to be made over strangers or less important people. They feel it is easier to say no because of their closeness to the said person, but this can negatively affect the psyche of the person.

The close one might come to feel disheartened because they have been inconvenienced over someone who holds less importance than they do. This undermines their self-confidence and they can start harbouring negative feelings.

This might happen after a singular instance, but usually takes place when a pattern is being established. Once this pattern is established, and the negative feelings have taken root, it might cause irreversible strain on the relationship.

While sometimes it might be the only way, it is important that the reasons are explained well.

If you can make the other person feel that although they have been caused a little inconvenience, on the bigger scheme they are avoiding a lot more trouble. This will help flip the idea of the trouble they are facing and will help you maintain a loving relationship longer.

Thus, seldom it is important to choose setting the right example over supporting your loved one. Actions have real consequences and an understanding of these consequences can instil better decision-making.

A person must learn that while you have unconditional love and support, there is only so much that can be done when life turns against you. It cannot protect you from every trouble, and thus, it is important to stand on your own two feet.

When starting out, use the unconditional love and support to build your confidence. Over time one will make mistakes and learn from them. There will also be successes and together this should add to your confidence. This is important because a person should be completely confident in themselves, any unconditional support should be accepted as a blessing, not the immediate fallback.

A careful balance of supporting your loved ones and using teaching moments can be really helpful in building strong character.

See you tomorrow.
